Glossary of Terms for CryptoFights

To help you be as competitive as possible, we've put together the official CryptoFights glossary. This glossary explains in-game terms and also helps you better understand the moves and weapons available in CryptoFights.

Ability Scores: Ability Scores are broken down into three categories: Strength, Dexterity, and Intelligence. How you develop each Ability Score will play out differently with the three CryptoFights fighter races: Humans, Elves, and Dwarves. Your development of Ability Scores also determines which weapons and actions you’ll have an advantage with during battle.

   






Action: You can take 4 actions with you when you go into battle. The 3 main actions all fighters start out with are Attack, Hide and Focus. Each time you level up, you get to unlock an action based on your fighter’s level. Some actions can only be used with certain weapons, while others require you to be under a specific status effect - for example, the action ‘Sneak Attack’ requires you to be Hidden to use it.

  

 

 



Attack: Attack is one of the start actions. All fighters can use it. Many actions derive from the Attack action, like the Power Attack or Sneak Attack.

Attack Roll: The fighter must perform an Attack roll using d20 ( twenty sided die ) to determine if they can hit the opponent. If the result of the dice is high enough, they can inflict damage via a Hit. If the result of the d20 Attack Roll is 20, the fighter performs a Critical Hit.




Aurora the Fierce: Each time you unlock a new battleground, she's there to tell you more about it. They call her Aurora the Fierce because she has shown exceptional skills and has proven herself to be just as strong as the male fighters. She was taught by Bram the Brave and is one of his best students.





Base Damage Type: Slashing, Piercing and Bludgeoning are the three main base damage types, also known as Mundane Damage Types. Shortswords, Greatswords and Battleaxes inflict Slashing damage; Bows, Daggers and Pistols inflict Piercing damage; Mauls, Maces, Quarterstaffs and a fighter’s bare fists inflict Bludgeoning damage.



Battleaxe: Battleaxes have a base damage type of Bludgeoning and can be common, uncommon, rare, legendary or epic. A Battleaxe’s Attack Property is Brutal Assault and its Variant property is Heavy.


Bludgeoning: Bludgeoning is one of ten different damage types in CryptoFights. If you use bludgeoning weapons, this means you’re using weapons such as mauls and quarterstaffs. Bludgeoning attacks are effective when delivered by strong fighters.



Bow: A weapon with a base damage type of Piercing that allows you to attack your target from a distance. Its attack property is Dextrous Precision and variant property is Heavy.



Bram the Brave: Your wise, seasoned mentor in the world of CryptoFights is Bram the Brave. He’ll walk you through basic gameplay strategy and mechanics which will help you understand how to succeed and achieve victory on the battlefield.




Caravan: The Caravan is where you can customize your fighter before a match, switch between fighters and check each of your fighters’ detailed stats. You can do things like swap out weapons and actions and create new fighters.



 


Cash prizes: Every battle your fight gives you the chance to win real cash prizes. It’s your reward for being a great fighter! Cash prize amounts vary depending on the level you’re fighting at and if you’re competing in a tournament.

Cold: While this Magical Elemental damage type doesn’t do as much damage as Fire, it reduces your opponent’s ability to escape future attacks. Slowing down your opponents also helps you make up a bit for any speed you might be lacking.



Critical Bonus Rolls: If a fighter scores a Critical Hit on their Attack Roll, the outcome of 2 extra dice and a coin roll are added to the Damage Roll.

d20, d6, d8: Dice notation - a d20 is a 20 sided dice. 2d6 are 2 six-sided dice.



Dagger: A small bladed weapon especially effective in the hands of a fighter with high Dexterity. It’s lightweight design makes it easy for quick, deadly attacks.



Damage types: There are 10 damage types - Warfare, Slashing, Bludgeoning, Fire, Piercing, Lightning, Poison, Cold, Mystic, Necrotic. Weapons and skills have different damage types. Armors and skills provide resistance for specific damage types. Some Fighter builds are more likely to rely on certain damage types.

    

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Damage Roll: If the result of the Attack Roll is not a Miss, then a Damage Roll is performed. Different weapons, skills and even fighter traits can affect the amount and type of dice being used in the Damage Roll.

Dexterity: The measurement of agility, balance, and reflexes are within the scope of Dexterity. These abilities determine initiative, evasion, critical change. Without developing Dexterity, you can’t use Dextrous and Precision weapons like Bows and Crossbows very well.

Demetris of the Alliance: Keeps record of all the fights that have ever happened and notes down everything. Stands in front of the Hall of Fighters, explains how match replay works, how each battle is listed here & can be replayed, explains how to access the combat log archive and how to export a share link for a match. He is a part of the Alliance that has been gathered to make sure all matches are played according to the rules and that essence is not being used in unfair or malicious ways.


Dwarves: Dwarves naturally have higher levels of Strength. Dwarves are tough to beat due to their muscle, physical power, and health. Strength allows them to wield Brutal and Assault weapons like Mauls and Greatswords. Dwarves receive +2 to all Resistances.


Dual-wielding: A fighter Dual-wields when using one weapon on each hand. Dual-wielding means two distinct attacks are processed per attack action. First, the main-hand is processed, followed by the off-hand. Unless stated otherwise when you use a weapon on the offhand, it does not receive Attack and Damage Modifiers bonuses.

Elves: Elves tend to have greater agility, reflexes, and balance due to their naturally higher levels of Dexterity. Evasion, initiative, and critical change needed for Dextrous and Precision weapons like Bows and Crossbows. Elves receive +10 Initiative and +1 Evasion.

Evasion: Evasion is the likelihood of evading an attack.



Fire: This damage type is a Magical Elemental type. Fire does more damage than other elemental types.

Fynn the Librarian: Fynn is the Skill Tree NPC, is a bookworm and can tell the player everything about all the skills + spellcasting, the difference between actions, traits and talents. Has never fought, but has read about all the brave heroes in the books and dreams of becoming a fighter one day, just like Bram the Brave.


Greatsword: Strength is required to use this powerful weapon. The base damage type of a Greatsword is Slashing. Its attack property is Brutal Assault and its variant property is Heavy.



Health: Health, Health Points or HP. Fighters start with HP equal to their Strength Ability Score and they then gain Health on level up. When they level up, they get their Strength Ability Bonus worth of Health Points added to their HP.

Humans: One of the three Fighter Races available in CryptoFights, humans are adaptable and tend to have higher levels of Intelligence. Humans aren’t as naturally powerful as Dwarves and don’t quite have the same natural stealth and agility of Elves. Humans receive +1 to all Ability Scores.


Intelligence: This Ability Score affects how well your character learns and reasons. Your character’s learning and reasoning ability help it learn how to better attack, counterattack, or defend against an opponent’s move. Spellcasting is a move that requires a decent Intelligence score.

Lightning: This damage type is also another Magical Elemental type like Fire and Cold. You may not have as much control with Lightning damage but there is a remote possibility to critically damage your target.

Loot drop: At the end of a battle, the winner gets items along with a cash prize. The value of the loot drop is greater on higher battleground tiers. All items are tokenized (including poor items). 

Mace: A Mace has a base damage type that is Bludgeoning. Its attack property is Brutal Assault. It’s a powerful weapon in the hands of a strong fighter.


Marketplace: The Marketplace is where you can trade, buy, and sell items for cash. Anytime you buy or win an item, it’s automatically added to your Kronoverse wallet. The wallet allows you to read an item’s description and exact stats such as rarity, value, type, and what games it’s compatible with, as well as it’s melt value.

Maul: This Bludgeoning weapon has an attack property of Brutal Assault and a variant property of Heavy. It’s designed to crush opponents on the battlefield.

Mystic: Similar to Warfare, Mystic is a damage type that also requires opponents to wear special armor to handle the effects of it. The biggest difference between Warfare and Mystic is that Mystic has some lore behind it.

Necrotic: A Magical damage type, Necrotic damage reduces maximum hitpoints in such a way that they cannot be healed. This reduces opportunities for a comeback by your opponent during battle.

Piercing: Fighters who use projectiles use this damage type. To be effective with piercing weapons, you need to invest in dexterity. Investing in your fighter’s dexterity helps you move quickly and with precision.

Pike: This weapon’s base damage type is Piercing. Its attack property is Brutal Assault and has a variant property of Strenuous. Its length allows fighters to keep targets at a distance while delivering damage.


Poison: You’re definitely playing the long game by opting for Poison damage. This is because Poison applies damage over the course of multiple turns. An opponent’s hit points can be significantly depleted over time when poisoned. Depending on your fighter’s skills, you can coat your weapons with poison.

Resistance: Level 1 players without armor do not have resistance to attacks (except Dwarves).

Shortsword: A bladed weapon with a base damage type of Slashing and an attack property of Ambivalent Assault. Ambivalent Assault means that Shortswords can be dual-wielded.


Slashing: This damage type involves swords and other weapons that cut. One thing you should understand is that most fighter builds that rely on strength will deal slashing damage.

Special Damage Types: These damage types are reserved for specialized skills and high-level weapons.

Strength: As you might have guessed, Strength is a measurement of muscle, physical power, and health. You need to have certain levels of Strength to wield Strength-dependent weapons in the Brutal and Assault weapon categories. These weapons include Greatswords and Mauls. Strength levels also determine a fighter’s starting HP and HP bonuses when being leveled up.

Stromir Hillbrewer: The friendly dwarf that stays in the Caravan and explains what each stat in the 'fighter stats' table is and helps players pick their weapon in the Equip screen. He forges most of the weapons that players will use in game (poor, common & uncommon).

Talent: Sets of actions and/or talents that are unlocked at the same time. These are usually class type names such as Sharpshooter.

Trait: Passive permanent bonus. These are usually adjectives like Strong.

Quarterstaff: A two-handed weapon, Quarterstaffs have a base damage type of Bludgeoning. Its attack property is Dextrous Assault and has variant properties of Heavy and Swift.


Quest Stone: You can access the Quest Stone on the CryptoFights world map. The Quest Stone is where you keep track of quests you’ve completed to earn XP.

Warfare: This damage type is one that warriors use. Warfare is a specific damage type that opponents need special armor to mitigate.

Weapon Die: Used to determine how much damage is inflicted.

XP: In order to level up in CryptoFights, you need to earn XP which can be done by completing quests and winning battles. The more XP you gain, the faster you can level up, which leads to higher-tier battles and the opportunity to win more cash and better loot.
